5 Days Volcanoes N. P & Nyungwe N.P safari : Engage in a 5-day safari to the volcanoes national park and Nyungwe park to experience two of Rwanda’s top attractions: gorilla trekking in the volcanoes national park and chimpanzee trekking in the south of the country.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes national park
A representative Discover Africa Safaris Tours and the driver/guide will be there to greet you when you arrive at Kigali International Airport. You will then be driven through Rwanda’s terraced hills to Volcanoes National Park, where endangered mountain gorillas are found. Dinner and a night’s stay are available at the premium Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, the mid-range Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, and the inexpensive Hotel Muhabura.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience
On the 2nd day of your 5 Days Volcanoes N. P & Nyungwe N.P safari , You will be taken to the park headquarters in Kinigi after an early-morning breakfast to hear a briefing from the park warden about the endangered mountain gorillas. The vehicle will leave you off at the starting location for the gorilla walk with the ranger guides along with your trekking supplies, water, and a packed lunch. Searching for the gorillas might take anything from one to eight hours, depending on their movement. You will only spend a maximum of an hour with them, but meeting them is extremely fulfilling as you take your time studying them and recording photos and films.
Rwandan Gorilla Trekking
Visit the interesting mountain gorillas for a while, then head back to the base to meet your driver and continue to your lodge for lunch and a break. Take a cultural stroll to Iby’iwachu Cultural Village after lunch if you want to improve the lives of ex-poachers and the locals in and around Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. This Non-Profit umbrella organization does this by offering incentives for conservation, fostering the growth of local businesses, and funding projects that are focused on improving local livelihoods. You will be shown about this rewarding location as you take in the Kinyarwanda customs, including the Intore dance, customary ceremonies, and a led community stroll. Retire and head back to your lodge for some downtime, supper, and an overnight stay as described above. Le Bambou Lodge is a midrange lodge, followed by the Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge and the Muhabura Hotel.
Day 3: Stop over at Lake Kivu and transfer to Nyungwe national park
It takes an hour to get to Rubavu after having an early breakfast at the lodge, visiting Lake Kivu, and enjoying the morning breeze at the shoreline. Spend no more than an hour there before leaving to continue your 4-5 hour trip to Nyungwe National Park, stopping for lunch along the way. The largest and oldest rain forest in East Africa is Nyungwe Forest. Arrive in the park in the late afternoon, then proceed to your hotel—Nyungwe Forest Lodge (luxury), Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel (mid-range), or Gisakura Guest House (budget)—for leisure, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon canopy walk
On the 4th day of your 5 Days Volcanoes N. P & Nyungwe N.P safari, before entering the jungle to look for the lively and playful males in Nyungwe forest, enjoy breakfast and get informed about the endangered chimpanzees. Because they converse and laugh while jumping from one tree to another, chimpanzees are considerably simpler to locate. The average tracking of chimpanzees lasts three hours. Spend an hour searching for them while shooting pictures and videos. After that, you’ll head back to your lodging for lunch.
Canopy Walks in Nyungwe National Park
You will take a walking trail after lunch that leads to the Canopy Walk, a swing bridge that is 50 meters long and hanging from big trees. With a bird’s eye perspective, you will be able to observe the magnificent rain forest while spotting wildlife moving around below you. You will have dinner at the lodge once again before it becomes dark.
Day 5: Transfer to Kigali city and airport drop off
After breakfast at your leisure, travel back to Kigali city for 4 hours, stopping along the way to visit the Murambi genocide museum and the palace of the Nyanza king. Arrive in Kigali, then tour the memorial to the genocide there as well as the local craft shops. After lunch, proceed to the airport to catch your connecting flight to your next location.
