Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

On the 3rd day of your 7 days Best of Rwanda Safari Tour, Typically, gorilla trekking is the high point of every safari in Africa. The ideal place in Africa to trek these rare but intriguing mountain gorillas (the Gorilla beringei beringei) is Parc national des Volcans. This park is situated on Rwanda’s border with Uganda and the DR Congo. Seven volcanoes make up this mountain range, with the Karisimbi rising to a height of more than 4500 meters.

Some of the last remaining mountain gorillas live on the slopes covered in bamboo and rainforest foliage. These gorillas were first thoroughly examined by George Schaller and, not so long ago, by Dian Fossey, who conducted her research there for 13 years before she inexplicably passed away at Bisoke.

You can read her book Gorillas in the Mist to learn more about her tireless efforts to stop gorilla poaching; perhaps there wouldn’t be any gorillas in Rwanda now. Parc National des Volcans is home to 4 habituated gorilla families, including the Susa Group, which has 35 members. Other gorilla families include the Sabinyo, which has 13 members, the Amahura, which has 16, and Group 13, which has only 6.

Finding them is not difficult, and each gorilla family can only be visited by a maximum of eight persons per day, requiring 32 permits each day. After tracking an ape, get back to your accommodation and unwind. Visit Kinigi Guest House, La Palme, or Mt. Gorilla View Lodge for meals and accommodations (FB)

One of the most carefully protected montane rainforests in all of Africa is Nyungwe Forest. It covers an area of 970 sq km and offers beautiful views of the surrounding forest, Lake Kivu, and the far-off volcanoes of the Parc National des Virunga.

The main draw here is taking a guided tour to search for big groups of chimpanzees or black and white Angolan Colobus monkeys, which can number up to 400 individuals per tribe. There are about 270 different species of trees, more than 70 different kinds of mammals, 275 different kinds of birds, a plethora of orchids, and a variety of butterflies. Gisakura Lodge offers dining and lodging.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Nyungwe

On the 7th day of your 7 days Best of Rwanda Safari Tour, Chimpanzee trekking can be done in the Nyungwe forest after breakfast. Huge chimpanzee populations can only be compared to those seen in Uganda’s Kibale area national park in this area. This forest’s primate tourism is unparalleled in Africa thanks to the L’Hoest’s and white Angolan Colobus monkeys. Drive to Nyanza, the historical residence of Rwanda’s former monarchs, after lunch.

Visit this palace and take in some of the elders’ traditional storytelling. The Intore dancers, who gained notoriety at the 1958 international cultural exhibition held in Brussels, are currently considered to be among the greatest Rwanda legends.

This warrior’s dance is a masterpiece of the nation’s choreographic legacy. If you want it, a cultural dance of this kind will be organized, replete with bells worn in the ankles, an angelic choir, and a lion mane made of sisal fiber. eat and rest at Hotel Ibis
